Following in his father's footsteps, Jay Crawford grew up building engines for the oil wells in the Long Beach area. This hands-on experience led him to start developing high-quality generators and inventing innovative ways to improve their performance. Driven by a passion for engineering excellence, Jay eventually invented the Studio Silent Generator, also known as the Crawford Generator.

The product was a groundbreaking success, attracting the attention of MultiQuip, which acquired both the patent and the company in 2000. Remarkably, MultiQuip continues to produce a version of that same generator to this day.

Around this time, Jay’s son Evan Crawford was in college and exploring entrepreneurial opportunities. While Jay had little interest in the rental business, Evan recognized its potential. The two teamed up to launch Power Trip Rentals  which remains a family endeavor—with Jay lending his engineering genius, Evan spearheading business development, and Evan’s brothers contributing their own skills and drive to the venture.

Now, nearly 20 years later, Evan—at just 44 years old—has transformed Power Trip into an industry powerhouse. Working alongside his father, brothers, and a team of exceptional people, he has built a company that operates from three locations, employs nearly 100 talented team members, and boasts one of the largest and best-maintained fleets of rental equipment in the industry.
